Dr. Jasmeet Bains is a family doctor who has spent her life serving working families, confronting health inequities, and showing up when it matters most. Raised in Delano, the daughter of first-generation immigrants, Dr. Bains watched her parents build a life from the ground up. From them, she learned the values that still guide her today — service, sacrifice, and standing up for what’s right, no matter the odds. After earning her medical degree, Dr. Bains returned home to the Central Valley to serve the community that raised her. She completed her residency at Clinica Sierra Vista, treating patients who often had nowhere else to turn — parents battling chronic illness, children struggling with asthma, and veterans fighting addiction. 

Whether delivering care in underserved neighborhoods, coordinating disaster response during California’s devastating wildfires, or organizing surge hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Bains has always led with compassion and courage. At a time when Republicans in Washington are slashing access to affordable health care, the Central Valley deserves a leader who has served her community both in the examining room or the State Legislature. 

Delivering Real Results for Central Valley Residents

In 2022, Dr. Bains took her fight for equity and access to the California State Legislature, representing California’s 35th Assembly District. In her first term, she’s delivered real results for her community — securing over $20 million to combat fentanyl addiction and drug trafficking, leading the effort to build a UC medical school branch in Kern County, cutting taxes for working moms and veterans, and opposing new gas taxes and higher energy prices that burden Central Valley families.

As chair of the Assembly’s Aging and Long-Term Care Committee, she’s leading the charge to protect seniors with dignity and expand access to essential services. She championed clean water for people and farms, fought to end human trafficking and child exploitation, and stood up for vulnerable children, veterans, and families across California.

Dr. Bains is running for California’s 22nd Congressional District — currently held by Republican Rep. David Valadao — because Central Valley residents deserve a leader who understands their struggles and works as hard as they do. Rep. Valadao has been bought and paid for by special interests and has spent his time in Washington working to make health care more expensive and restrict abortion access. While Washington Republicans continue to create chaos and prioritize billionaires, Dr. Bains will fight for Central Valley’s working families, affordable health care, and safer communities.
