Continuing a Strong History of Progressive Leadership.
The 33rd District has been represented by Democratic champions for women and families and with Wendy Greuel, we have an opportunity to continue that legacy. When Congressman Henry Waxman announced his decision to retire, we knew Wendy was ready to fight for families to make sure everyone has a fair shot. She has fought to make sure women earn equal pay for equal work and that women-owned businesses have equal access to capital. Wendy was a member of legendary LA Mayor Tom Bradley’s team, then worked for HUD during the Clinton administration, where she secured $1 billion in aid for victims of the Northridge earthquake. She’s also part-owner of her family’s wholesale building supply business and a former DreamWorks exec. As a mom with a young son in public school, she knows what works and what needs to change. Wendy has pledged to be a voice for students and teachers. She has supported a leadership pipeline for teachers and administrators and has called for the creation of anti-bullying programs.
An Experienced Leader Ready To Grow Southern California and Take on Washington.
A native Angeleno, Wendy knows how to promote growth and take on the establishment to create change. As LA’s top fiscal watchdog, Wendy has rooted out fraud, waste, and abuse in the city budget. She pushed LA to build a reserve fund and helped create LA’s BEST, a nationally recognized after-school program. As a member of the city council, Wendy dramatically reformed the city’s business tax, giving much-needed relief to small businesses. As Congresswoman, she’ll make the creation of good paying jobs, equal rights, and protecting the environment her top priorities.
A Champion for Working Families, A Candidate Ready to Engage on the Issues.
Wendy knows campaigns are about helping families get a head and engaging with voters on the issues that matter to them most. From potholes to budget fixes to economic fairness, she’s heard it all but she’s not done listening. That’s why she’s ready to work for Californians and be their voice in Washington. Strongly pro-choice, Wendy has promised to advance reproductive rights and stand up for equality for all people. She's already been endorsed by EMILY's List champion Kamala Harris, Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, and former Los Angeles mayor Antonio Vallaraigosa. Her campaign has hit the ground running—we’ve supported her in the past and we’re proud to stand beside her again.
