Suzanne Kosmas
In Sarah Palin's crosshairs
Suzanne Kosmas’ 2008 victory over entrenched GOP Rep. Tom Feeney in this Republican-leaning district proved that experienced, principled leadership is exactly what Floridians are looking for – but freshman Kosmas is a top GOP target: she was included in Sarah Palin’s Facebook “hit list” of districts with crosshairs.
A hardworking legislator committed to small business
While managing a successful small business, Kosmas has made a profound difference in her community as a state representative and an active volunteer and board member for environmental and social service organizations. In Congress, she’s spearheaded a much-needed jobs program and critical emergency assistance for flood-ravaged citizens in her district.
Staunchly anti-choice opponent
State Representative Sandy Adams emerged as Kosmas’s Republican opponent after a hotly contested four-way primary. Adams has a long record of anti-choice votes, and she was one of the few members of the Florida state House to vote against the expansion of children’s health care. Kosmas is a star freshman legislator who will need all the support EMILY's List members can give her to keep this seat in Democratic hands.
