Barbara Boxer
A senator who’s always had our backs
In her 25 years in Congress, Sen. Barbara Boxer has prioritized women’s rights, introducing both the Violence Against Women Act and the Freedom of Choice Act, and – most recently – leading the opposition to anti-choice measures in the House and Senate health care bills. She’s been a progressive champion who’s never backed down from a fight – and this year’s race will be no exception.
A champion for Main Street
A leader on financial reform and an advocate for working families, Boxer introduced a bill to tax Wall Street bonuses and fought for the recently-passed Senate jobs bill that is so critical to California’s economic recovery.
An already ugly re-election fight
The GOP just backed Sarah Palin-endorsed candidate Carly Fiorina, who’s been touted as the “new face of the pro-life movement.” Fiorina is already filling her campaign coffers with cash from her own fortune – including a $21 million golden parachute she received after being fired from her previous job as CEO of Hewlett-Packard. The right-wing has made clear this seat is a top target, and Barbara will need immediate support to prepare for a tough battle.
