Alex Sink
A Sunshine State heavyweight
When GOP Gov. Charlie Crist decided to run for Senate, Democrats united behind Alex Sink as their candidate for governor. Florida’s first female chief financial officer, Sink is a business and economic leader who would again make history as this battleground state’s first woman governor.
Fiscal expertise, proven leadership
The business-savvy Sink is known for innovative ideas: she directed investment managers to assess the impact of global warming on the state’s investment portfolio. She’s a reform-minded manager who’s safeguarding tax dollars from risk and promoting practical ideas to restore vibrancy to Florida’s economy.
Self-funded, anti-choice Republican opponent
Sink will face Rick Scott, a scandal-tainted multi-millionaire health care executive who spent $50 million just to win the primary. Scott is far to the right, and extremely anti-choice: he believes that Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and supported Florida’s controversial anti-choice bill requiring ultrasounds before obtaining a first term abortion. Sink needs immediate support from EMILY’s List members to counter Scott’s relentless self-spending.
