GOP War on Women

Arts and crafts chain Hobby Lobby is pursuing a lawsuit against the Obama administration’s birth-control mandate and they have the backing of a few prominent Republican lawmakers.  The GOP is at it yet again -- trying to limit access to birth control. 

Campaign rhetoric can be feisty. But when a member of the U.S. House of Representatives – like Joe Walsh - makes personal attacks on his opponent or other public figures, it’s inexcusable. His attacks have been baseless, vile, and completely unrelated to issues in the campaign. Rep. Joe Walsh does not have the content or character or someone who should be representing the people of Illinois – or anyone in the United States.

What a week. Paul Ryan’s work of oral fiction…er…Convention speech certainly had all the fact checkers riled up last night. Ryan’s loose relationship with the truth stretched out to health care, Medicare, the deficit, the US’s credit rating, and the closing of a GM plant in Wisconsin.

I’m writing this near the end of a long day on the road. I’ve been through three states in the last six days, meeting with candidates, supporters, voters – and today really feels like the “best of times and the worst of times” for the women who make up our EMILY’s List community.
