Yesterday, the 113th Congress was sworn into office, including 16 new EMILY’s List women to the House and 9 EMILY’s List women to the Senate. With a record number of women entering both chambers and the incoming freshman class being the most diverse in history, there was a lot to celebrate. So we did!

We already shared the highlights from our week in Charlotte at the Democratic National Convention, including our Town Hall. But another highlight for us was how many of our women spoke at the Convention. It was truly remarkable to watch the women we’ve spent all year championing take the stage and inspire a whole new audience. We also loved the speeches from some of our candidates in past cycles. EMILY’s List women really are rock stars.

    EL Cong Carolyn Maloney (NY-14) introduced the "Stop Deceptive Advertising in Women’s Services Act" into Congress last week -- once again proving how important female leaders are to the Reproductive Rights movement.
