The elected members of the EMILY's List family hold powerful positions in their roles in the House and Senate, some directly working with Armed Services, the Intelligence Committee, and Homeland Security.

Today EMILY's List announced that it is moving five women currently "On the List" to a full recommendation. These five women are the first 2012 House challengers to move from "On the List" to a full endorsement.

No dirty tricks or smears here: an EMILY’s List program in Arizona has begun informing voters about the choices they face in the upcoming election. We’ve sent mail to targeted voters about Congs. Ann Kirkpatrick and Gabrielle Giffords. As POLITICO puts it: ”the mailers follow a tried-and-true EMILY's List method this cycle: They're not noisy or caustic, but they draw a bright line between Democrats and their challengers when it comes to policy.”

When we helped elect Cong. Ann Kirkpatrick in 2008, we knew we were backing a candidate set on putting constituents ahead of herself. And it turns out that's exactly what we got.

There's never much down time here at EMILY's List -- and this week has been no different.

When we say Sarah Palin is targeting our women, we don't just mean figuratively. Palin's Facebook page is currently sporting a "gun sight-riddled campaign map" aiming at the districts she's hoping her right-wing supporters will help win for the GOP this fall. Among the 20 candidates in her sights are four of our pro-choice Democratic women -- Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, Betsy Markey, Suzanne Kosmas, and Gabrielle Giffords.
