Seriously: Sink is everywhere!

This morning MSNBC launched their “Five Races to Watch” week, kicking it off with EMILY’s List Florida gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink, whose race has been at the top of our list for a long time.

We’re happy to see people focusing on this race, where Alex is running a strong, consistent, and thoughtful campaign against Rick Scott -- a man whom MSNBC calls the “least electable” Republican candidate due to his, er, questionable record running Columbia HCA in the 90s.

Great news in Florida -- new polling shows Alex Sink jumping ahead in the race for governor. This Tampa news outlet said it best: Alex Sink surges as Rick Scott and Bill McCollum sling mud in Florida Governor's Race.

A new FL-Gov poll shows a two-point race between the state's Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink and the GOP's leading contender, current state Attorney General Bill McCollum.

The poll -- conducted for the St. Petersburg Times, Miami Herald, Bay News 9, and Central Florida News 13 -- shows McCollum pulling in 34 percent to Alex's 32. But with a four-point margin of error, this is truly anyone's race.

Election season is in full swing in the Sunshine State, and after Florida's recent primary, state CFO Alex Sink will face Republican Rick Scott, who has a personal fortune of over $200 million. Spending over $50 million for the primary alone, Scott showed us that he's willing to pour massive sums into his campaign. Beyond record-blowing spending, his rhetoric on the trail often got pretty nasty, including an ad that likened his primary opponent to a dirty diaper.

The GOP sure didn't wait long to launch their first attack in the Florida governor's race.

Just this week, the Republican Governors Association released its first television ad of the season, an attack on gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink. The GOP is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the piece, which is airing across the state.

Here's what Alex's campaign manager, Paul Dunn, had to say about the attacks:

It’s hard out there for a fraudster! By all accounts, Florida gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott’s had a rough week – first, he got pummeled by Alex Sink’s outstanding debate performance in which she showed him to be out of touch with reality and wholly untrustworthy.
