Today, we take a moment to step back from our daily routines and remember in gratitude the servicewomen and men who have died fighting for our country.  America was founded on the ideal that freedom cannot be taken for granted, but rather must be vigorously protected, and we at EMILY’s List extend our deepest thanks to those who serve.

The phrase “women get things done,” has never been so applicable. Women have dominated the discourse this week, and EMILY’s List has been in the forefront of many of the exciting things that have been happening. ICYMI, here’s what we’re talking about:

We already shared the highlights from our week in Charlotte at the Democratic National Convention, including our Town Hall. But another highlight for us was how many of our women spoke at the Convention. It was truly remarkable to watch the women we’ve spent all year championing take the stage and inspire a whole new audience. We also loved the speeches from some of our candidates in past cycles. EMILY’s List women really are rock stars.

Campaign rhetoric can be feisty. But when a member of the U.S. House of Representatives – like Joe Walsh - makes personal attacks on his opponent or other public figures, it’s inexcusable. His attacks have been baseless, vile, and completely unrelated to issues in the campaign. Rep. Joe Walsh does not have the content or character or someone who should be representing the people of Illinois – or anyone in the United States.
