November 4, 2004

We are still tracking races and counting votes here at EMILY's List, and drawing strength from the election of five new women to the U.S. House of Representatives. While some may say there is a cloud over the Democrats, there was a significant silver lining for women candidates in this cycle. Though we suffered some defeats, our women ran stronger and more competitive races than ever before and many were victorious. Some of the highlights for us in this election cycle include:

A particularly ugly case in point: in Wisconsin, the Chamber ran an ad against EMILY’s List candidate Julie Lassa that included her family’s home phone number.

We will not let our rights be threatened: Democrats speak out against H.R. 3

Kathryn Tinker
February 9, 2011

We’ve been keeping close watch on H.R. 3, the GOP-supported bill that would be harmful to women and their families by limiting their access to abortion and overall reproductive health care. Earlier this week, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Richard Blumenthal wrote for the EMILY’s List blog about this restrictive legislation and how dangerous it is for American women.

Michele Bachmann: Protecting BP while families suffer. Oh, and calling the President a criminal, too.

Stephanie Schriock
June 17, 2010

Readers of this blog -- or anyone who's watched television over the last few years -- have come to expect outrageous statements and terrible ideas from Michele Bachmann. But yesterday, I have to admit, she surprised even me.

Michele Bachman went to bat for BP -- becoming the company's most vocal advocate and displaying a truly shocking -- even for her -- disregard for American families and their tax dollars.
