GOP Opponents

Last week we put Illinois Cong. Bobby Schilling “On Notice” for his odious anti-woman, anti-family record -- including but not limited to his support for sham “crisis pregnancy centers” run with public funds and for more than $1 billion in cuts to Head Start.

Sure, some might make the case it's been a tough week in Washington for Republicans. Boehner's name is being dragged all across the web, but I'm willing to bet that Joe Walsh is having one heckuva week.

If Republican Cory Gardner hadn't already heard that knowing thy opponent is a significant piece of any good campaign strategy, I thought he might be best served with a little note from this Betsy Markey fan. Gardner's latest attack ad is a desperate attempt to hit Betsy, but he completely missed the mark -- or Markey. Gardner's ad confuses our Congresswoman Betsy Markey with the Congressman from Massachusetts with whom she happens to share a last name.

Mr. Blunt, playing with history is like playing with fire; you are going to get burned.

Do you remember Cong. Joe Walsh of Illinois? Of course you do.

Mastermind of the Bush agenda? Same guy who orchestrated the Bush campaign's 537-vote win in 2000?

What's the best way to move women back decades? Just ask the GOP.

The Republican Review, an apparent newsletter produced by the Medina County (Ohio) Republican Executive Committee, states the following:

"Let's take Betty Sutton out of the House and put her back in the kitchen."

We have been waiting for the Senate race to replace retiring Missouri Sen Kit Bond to start heating up. It looks like EMILY's List candidate Robin Carnahan and her GOP opponent Rep. Roy Blunt are finally delivering.

Deb Markowitz has some big plans for Vermont!

Markowitz, along with three of the other five Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls, shared her vision for Vermont this past Thursday at a public forum. She expressed a need for better budget management and major improvements in Vermont’s school system.

In Congress right now, we’re having one battle after another to protect women, children and families.

The recently-passed Republican spending bill might is part of the House’s war on women. Whether the cuts were to maternal and child block grants, to programs that help nursing mothers and infants or cuts that limit access to birth control – women need to stand up and be heard.
