This New York Times headline today certainly got our attention: "Need a Mortgage? Don't get pregnant". Say What?

Michele Bachmann: Media Darling

Michele Bachmann keynoted the Smart Girl Summit last night. And honestly? After a day of some real speechifying, she was kind of a letdown.

And we want you to be in the know.

The GOP shows its true colors: fighting against women, not for jobs

Lisa McIntire
February 16, 2011

Didn’t take long, did it? In his first remarks as Speaker, John Boehner talked about a lot of things: unemployment, national debt, service, government accountability, the Constitution, rebuilding trust. That talk was little over a month ago, and it has remained just that: all talk. What has the Republican-led House actually been doing since? Almost nothing, especially in terms of one of Americans’ greatest concerns – job creation.

Last December Republicans in the U.S. Senate refused to allow a vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would have addressed the serious gender gap in wages. Now, Republicans are continuing their agenda of rolling back the rights of women at the state level.

We all know it matters who we send to Congress. But if ever we needed a reminder for why it's crucial that we elect pro-choice Democratic women governors and representatives at the state and local level, here it is.

Women's rights have been under attack around the country recently. In the last few weeks, state legislatures have taken steps to dramatically limit access to full reproductive services -- endangering women's lives for political gain.
