EMILY's List Celebrates Multiple Victories for Democratic Women in Missouri and Michigan

August 7, 2008

The following are comments from EMILY's List president and founder Ellen R. Malcolm on victories by EMILY's List candidates in primary races in Missouri and Michigan:

Historic Election Night for EMILY's List Candidates

November 6, 2008

It was a historic election night for EMILY's List candidates. EMILY's List helped defeat Republicans and elect more pro-choice Democratic women than in any year since 1992. EMILY's List candidates ousted two Republican senators in nasty, expensive races and won the two most competitive governors races in the country. We added at least 11 new Democratic women to the U.S. House, and possibly as many as 13.

EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Robin Carnahan for United States Senate

Washington, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest financial resource for women candidates, today announced its endorsement of Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan in her candidacy for the United States Senate.

Boy, the heat is on in Missouri. A new poll out today puts Robin Carnahan in a statistical dead heat with her GOP opponent in the open Senate seat. Robin's race joins a growing group of our candidates whose campaigns are neck-and-neck with Republicans. Many will be decided by just a few hundred votes -- all the more reason we have to fight until the finish line.

Good news, Washington! Congressman Roy Blunt (of the old Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay DC Rat Pack) is having himself a fundraiser right here in town. It’s at Hotel George, “the pioneer in hotel luxury.” And you’re all invited!

Just kidding, you’re totally not. THIS party is for corporate lobbyists and GOP big-wigs. You know, DC’s “elite inner circle.” So unless you’re cool enough to hang with the likes of Tom Delay’s old campaign manager, you’re probably not on the list.

Who are Roy Blunt's friends?

Just what is going on in Missouri? We know that Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is preparing for the upcoming August 3rd primaries. After all, as the state’s top elections official, Carnahan implemented Missouri’s first statewide voter registration system, created the Missouri Voting Rights Center, and launched an interactive election results website.

Vincent David Jericho is pretty fed up with Roy Blunt. Apparently, Michael Steele might be too.

Jericho, the host of a conservative Missouri radio talk show, recently interviewed Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, and the two got to talking about the Republican Senate candidate Roy Blunt, who will likely face off with EMILY's List candidate and current secretary of state, Robin Carnahan.

As EMILY's List Political Director, I live and breathe polls: which candidate is up and which is down, which race is tightening, which congressional district is leaning Democratic this year.
