Yesterday, the 113th Congress was sworn into office, including 16 new EMILY’s List women to the House and 9 EMILY’s List women to the Senate. With a record number of women entering both chambers and the incoming freshman class being the most diverse in history, there was a lot to celebrate. So we did!

When Tammy Baldwin was 9 years old, she contracted a serious childhood illness. She spent three months in a hospital recovering. When her family found out their insurance wouldn’t cover her care, what started out as an emotionally draining situation became financially draining as well. After Tammy recovered, her family still couldn’t find insurance. She became one of “those children” with pre-existing conditions, of which there are millions across the country.

We asked, and you delivered. The Koch Brothers were going after Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, and the EMILY’s List community pushed back with a resounding NO. Because of your passion, generosity and commitment to pro-choice, Democratic candidates like Tammy, our WOMEN VOTE! program got down to business, and we’re fighting back.
