About Bev Perdue

From red to blue in North Carolina

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Bev Perdue’s campaign for governor was key in helping the Tar Heel state turn from red to blue this year. Perdue’s hard fought campaign paved the way for her November 4 success. Her win confirms that North Carolinians are ready for the positive change she embodies.

Progressive, pro-choice leadership

Perdue is a leader on education and health care, an advocate for seniors, and a champion of progressive reform. Her Working Families Agenda helped increase North Carolina's minimum wage. She played a critical role in making North Carolina a biotechnology powerhouse.

A historic first

With two terms as lieutenant governor, Bev Perdue climbed higher in North Carolina state government than any woman before her. With her recent win, not only will Perdue be North Carolina’s first female governor, she'll also be the first pro-choice Democratic woman governor of a southern state since the late Ann Richards of Texas!
