WOMEN VOTE! to Mobilize Voters in New Hampshire

WASHINGTON -- The 2008 WOMEN VOTE! program, a nationwide voter mobilization and education project of EMILY's List, will be reaching out to voters through the mail throughout the state of New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire WOMEN VOTE program hopes to reach more than 100,000 households throughout the state leading up to the election. The program has 3 principal targets:

  1. Unregistered persons who have been modeled as likely to turnout and vote; and likely to vote Democratic. Using the modeling that EMILY’s List created over the summer, WOMEN VOTE! will target approximately 45,000 persons who have a score between 7 to 10 in terms of their likelihood of voting and a score of 8 to 10 in terms of their likelihood of supporting Jeanne Shaheen. We hope to expand the electorate by targeting these Democratic-leaning persons who are not currently registered to vote. These voters will receive 9 pieces of mail.
  2. Unaffiliated voters who have been modeled as likely to vote; but who are mid-range in their support for Jeanne Shaheen. Using the modeled support scores, WOMEN VOTE! will target approximately 60,000 voters with a turnout score of 30 to 100 and a support score of 3 to 7. While there will be some differences based on age, these voters will receive between 4 and 6 pieces of mail. Older voters in this universe will receive mail that focuses on the presidential race. Approximately 30,000 people in this universe have already received four pieces of mail.
  3. Unaffiliated voters in the first congressional district. Unaffiliated voters in the first congressional district who are likely to vote but who are mid-range in their support for Shaheen will receive two to three additional pieces of mail focusing on the congressional race.

Launched in 1995, the historic EMILY's List WOMEN VOTE! project combines polling and research, advanced information technology, sophisticated message testing, and precinct-by-precinct field work to mobilize millions of women voters across the country. EMILY's List designed WOMEN VOTE! to build a progressive political base that will elect more Democrats, especially women, by helping to increase turnout among women voters year after year.

With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 71 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY's List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
