Statement from Stephanie Schriock on Dino Rossi entering the Washington Senate Race

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY's List, issued the following statement on Dino Rossi entering the Washington Senate race against EMILY's List-endorsed U.S. Senator Patty Murray.

"The third time will not be the charm for Dino Rossi. Washington State voters have already twice rejected Dino Rossi and his record of failed business experience. On the critical issues families face, in Washington State and throughout the country, the choice between Senator Patty Murray and opportunist and perennial candidate Dino Rossi could not be clearer.

"Senator Murray fought for legislation to help families avoid foreclosures, including home counseling programs -- while Dino Rossi advised investors how to make the maximum cash off of foreclosures.

"Senator Murray has achieved a leadership role in the US Senate -- and is now the fourth most powerful Senator amongst Democrats -- and chairs two subcommittees, while never losing focus on the people of Washington State. While Dino Rossi, in his seven years in the state senate, managed to pass nine bills, Senator Murray played key roles in passing legislation that has protected families, leveled the playing field for women and men, and created opportunities for veterans, including the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the expansion of the Children's Health Insurance Program, the Credit Card Holders Bill of Rights, and the new GI Bill.

"Again and again, EMILY's List members have been there for Senator Murray, the 'mom in tennis shoes' -- and she's had our back, delivering critical programs to Washington State and passing legislation that have moved families in our country forward.
