Stephanie Schriock Statement on Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin Rally

Cackle of Rads? Community of Americans saying SARAH DOESN'T SPEAK FOR ME is Larger Than Expected Turnout at Washington Rally

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Statement of EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock on the eve of the Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin rally:

“Today in Washington, DC people are starting to gather for the rally Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are hosting to showcase their radical candidates and extreme agenda,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List. “But the community of women and men across this country who are standing up against Sarah Palin and her endorsed candidates’ radical agenda is growing faster than the anticipated crowd. Since the launch of the Sarah Doesn’t Speak For Me campaign ten days ago, hundreds of thousands of people have participated in the campaign. They are raising their voices in strong opposition to the anti-woman, anti-commonsense Wall Street reform, anti-health care reform agenda that Sarah Palin and her candidates champion. EMILY’s List has had over 110,000 visits to our website Sarah Doesn’t Speak for Me, had over 200,000 views of our video and brought more than 100,000 new supporters into the EMILY’s List community. If all the new members to our community saying SARAH DOESN’T SPEAK FOR THEM in August had a rally - it would be larger than the expected turnout at the Beck/Palin extremist agenda rally this weekend. What Sarah Palin called a ‘cackle of rads’ has quickly become a diverse community of folks from all across the country who are saying no to the radical, turn-back-the-clock agenda of Palin and her candidates.”
