EMILY’s List Announces New Campaign: Sarah Doesn’t Speak for Me

Launches On-Line Arena Where Americans Can Speak Out Against Sarah Palin's Backwards-Looking Candidates

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, today announced the launch of Sarah Doesn’t Speak for Me, an ongoing and diverse campaign to provide real opportunities to fight back against the radical agenda of Sarah Palin and her endorsed candidates.

"Throughout this cycle, Sarah Palin has predicted a rising tide of mothers and women voters who will support her so-called 'Mama Grizzly' candidates," said EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock. "Palin has made it her mission to defeat candidates who have worked hard to champion the rights of women and families across the country and replace them with conservative candidates who want to repeal health care, stand with big business, and eliminate a woman’s right to choose. So today, EMILY’s List is calling on women – and men! – to let their voices be heard and to reject Palin's reactionary candidates and backward-looking agenda. We're asking Democrats, Independents, and moderate Republicans who have no home – to join us in our new campaign, Sarah Doesn’t Speak for Me."

"The Sarah Doesn't Speak For Me campaign is an opportunity for any and all Americans who want to reject the constant nay-saying of Palin and her candidates – no to health care, no to commonsense financial reform, no to corporate accountability, and no to women making their own choices," continued Schriock. "It’s a campaign to bring folks together who want to continue to see progressive change in this country, and have their voices heard."

Sarah Doesn't Speak for Me will feature a new multi-media interactive website, a page for users to share personal stories, and information about the radical agenda of Palin's candidates and where they stand on critical issues. It includes branded merchandise and an aggressive online presence that will extend our reach to a broad and diverse range of audiences and, through a targeted advertising campaign, get more than six million impressions.

EMILY's List has always been a dedicated and passionate network of activists and donors throughout the country. SarahDoesntSpeakForMe.com will expand and extend that community at an urgent time for our nation.

EMILY's List is the nation's largest resource for women candidates. In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
