Round Two: EMILY’s List Puts 4 New GOP Freshmen “On Notice”
Anti-woman Records + Talented Dem Women = Serious Political Trouble
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, EMILY's List adds 4 new GOP freshmen to its list of 2012 House targets. The following Republicans will join Reps. Charlie Bass (NH-02), Chip Cravaack (MN-08), Paul Gosar (AZ-01), Joe Heck (NV-03), and Allen West (FL-22) "On Notice":
• Rep. Bob Dold (IL-10)
• Rep. Frank Guinta (NH-01)
• Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-11)
• Rep. Steve Stivers (OH-15)
Once again, those "On Notice" meet two special criteria. First, despite short tenures, they've already amassed appallingly anti-woman, anti-family records. And second, there is major Democratic female talent waiting in the wings.
"There is significant buyer's remorse surrounding these freshman Republicans," said EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock. "They told voters they would make job creation their number one priority. Instead they've relentlessly pursued an agenda that strips women of their rights and freedoms, and takes away their opportunities to keep themselves healthy and raise healthy families. Last week, we saw how far the Republican Party is willing to go to appease their extreme right-wing base. And shockingly, the very first thing on their chopping block is health care for women.
"Every Republican we've put on notice sits in a district with strong female Democratic talent. And their anti-woman actions in Congress make electing a woman even more appealing. Our Democratic women in Congress are the best defense against the radical GOP agenda. EMILY's List is ready to send them more reinforcements."
