Washington PDC Completely Exonerates EMILY'S List and the Gregoire Campaign

Republican Charges "Not Supported By The Facts"

WASHINGTON, DC - Following is a statement by Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY's List, on today's ruling by the Washington StatePublic Disclosure Commission.

"Over the past five months, the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission has conducted an exhaustive and thorough investigation of accusations made by Dino Rossi's allies in the Washington State Republic Party. Today, the findings of that investigation have completely exonerated EMILY's List and Christine Gregoire's campaign, as we were confident they would.

"As an organization that seeks to empower women at every level of the political process, EMILY's List does everything in its power to ensure our compliance with both the spirit and the letter of campaign finance law. The PDC reaffirmed this today and found the Republican complaints to have no basis in fact.

"Members of EMILY's List in Washington State and across the country are proud of their support of outstanding leaders like Christine Gregoire and look forward to moving past these irresponsible partisan attacks and focusing on the critical issues facing Washington voters. This attempt by Dino Rossi's allies in the Republican Party to silence these women and prevent their participation in the democratic process has failed – and will in fact only serve to further energize women in Washington and across the country in their support for Christine Gregoire's campaign for Governor."
