EMILY’s List Puts Four More Strong Women "On the List"
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, announced it is placing congressional candidates Shelley Adler, Julia Brownley, Jessica Ehrlich, and Joyce Healy-Abrams “On the List.”
The EMILY’s List community now stands at more than one million members strong. These supporters are getting their information earlier, quicker, and on the web and they’re ready to take action now. “On the List” is a new way for EMILY’s List members to engage with and support promising candidates early in an election cycle. By putting Adler, Brownley, Ehrlich and Healy-Abrams “On the List,” EMILY’s List is ensuring that they have access to this powerful network of supporters.
“Democratic women are leading the way to take back the House in 2012,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List. “Now more than ever, we need strong leaders like Shelley, Julia, Jessica and Joyce in Congress in order to make Washington work for women and families. From Republican efforts to put your boss in charge of your health care coverage, to Rush Limbaugh’s vile attacks on women who dare to speak up for themselves, the GOP is waging an all-out war on women. But women are fighting back and 2012 is shaping up to be a great one for Democratic women candidates up and down the ballot. EMILY’s List is proud to support promising candidates like Shelley, Julia, Jessica, and Joyce.”
EMILY’s List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 1,000,000 members across the country, EMILY’s List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY’s List has worked to elect 87 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY’s List had the largest number of members and donors in our 27 year history.
