EMILY's List Endorses Michelle Lujan Grisham and Stacey Lawson
Washington D.C. – EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, announced today that it is fully recommending the following candidates:
- Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01)
- Stacey Lawson (CA-02)
“Democratic women are leading the way for real change in Washington,” said EMILY’s List President, Stephanie Schriock. “By electing strong leaders focused on job creation like Michelle Lujan Grisham and Stacey Lawson, we can help build a Washington that actually works for women and families.
“2012 is shaping up to be an historic year for women and for EMILY’s List. We can take back the House and fight back against the Tea Party agenda, but only if we elect strong candidates like Michelle and Stacey who will stand up to the right and help end the GOP’s war on women.”
Coming from a blue collar community and a middle class family, Stacey Lawson understands the economic problems facing California’s 2nd congressional district – and she’s worked throughout her successful career as a small business owner to create good jobs for families in California.
Michelle Lujan Grisham is being moved this week from “On the List” to a full recommendation. Lujan Grisham has been a model public servant in her community and has fought to bring health care to working families in New Mexico.
In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 1,000,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 87 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 27 year history.
