EMILY's List Endorses Kate Marshall

Moves from "On the List" to A Full Recommendation

Washington D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, announced today that it is endorsing Kate Marshall, moving the candidate in Nevada's second congressional district from "On the List" to a full recommendation.

"On the List" was created because of the dramatic growth in the EMILY's List community -- now over 900,000 members -- who are getting their information earlier, quicker and on the web. These supporters are ready to take action now and "On the List" makes sure candidates have early access to them. Kate Marshall is the first candidate to move from "On the List" to a full endorsement.

"Kate is an uncompromising leader who has an unwavering commitment to job creation in Nevada and a proven record of sound financial management," said Stephanie Schriock President of EMILY's List. "As State Treasurer, Kate has served as the fiscal conscience for Nevada -- streamlining services, cutting waste, and improving college tuition programs.

"In this competitive election, Kate is the only candidate looking out for women and families in Nevada. She'll fight against the Republican war on women in Washington and bring some much-needed common sense to the House of Representatives. EMILY's List is proud to support Kate Marshall for Congress."

Marshall was first elected State Treasurer with the help of EMILY's List’s Political Opportunity Program in 2006 and re-elected to a second term in 2010. Marshall’s record as State Treasurer is stellar; even during the national economic crisis, she secured a net investment profit of $46 million. Marshall previously served as the Senior Deputy Attorney General where she created Nevada's Antitrust Unit. Marshall and her two daughters live in Reno.

In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 900,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 86 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 25 year history.
