EMILY’s List Announces Deputy Communications Director Jess McIntosh
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List is pleased to announce the addition of a talented new staffer, Jess McIntosh, as Deputy Communications Director, helping to expand the media relations efforts of the communications team.
McIntosh joins EMILY's List from the staff of U.S. Senator Al Franken (D-MN), on whose campaign staff she also played a critical role. Previously, McIntosh served as Communications Director for the DFL Party in Minnesota, working with multiple candidates – challengers and incumbents -- as well as party members and activists throughout the state. During her tenure at the Party, Minnesotans elected Senator Amy Klobuchar and, in a special election, State Senator Tarryl Clark, now running for congress in the 6th District.
"We are so thrilled to welcome Jess to EMILY’s List," said President Stephanie Schriock. "Jess has built such incredible experience over the last few years -- with every new role, her knowledge and skills have expanded, and she's retained her irrepressible energy, toughness, and good humor. So much is at stake this cycle, and we're pleased to have Jess join us in our fight to elect pro-choice Democratic women who put families over corporations, fight for jobs and healthcare, and protect our rights."
McIntosh began her career in New York City politics, working for Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer as well as the re-election campaign of Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
McIntosh brings national and DC-based press expertise to the EMILY's List team, as well as battle-tested campaign experience that will help her to support EMILY's List candidates, advocate for EMILY's List, and draw clear distinctions between the values and accomplishments of EMILY's List's pro-choice Democratic women and the right-wing Republicans running against them this cycle.
"I've respected EMILY’S List since I was old enough to wonder where the women in government were," said McIntosh. "Stephanie Schriock has built a smart, tenacious team and I'm proud to join them. I've helped candidates win some pretty tough fights, and I'm thrilled to bring my experience to EMILY's List to help elect more strong pro-choice Democratic women."
EMILY's List is the nation's largest resource for women in politics. In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY’s List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
