EMILY's List Activates Team EMILY in NY-26

Team EMILY members to Kathy Hochul: "We've got your back"

WASHINGTON D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, today activated Team EMILY -- announcing plans to connect EMILY's List members across the country with women voters in New York's 26th congressional district to get-out-the-vote for Kathy Hochul.

"Jane Corwin has embraced an agenda that will have devastating effects for the people of New York and for women particularly," said Denise Feriozzi, the director of EMILY's List WOMEN VOTE! "While Corwin supports a budget that would end Medicare as we know it, Kathy Hochul has been getting her message of job creation and fiscal responsibility out to New York families. Team EMILY is ready to back her up and help amplify her message to targeted women voters across New York's 26th congressional district."

The New York Team EMILY program will target approximately 20,000 registered Democratic women voters who voted in the 2010 midterm election but don't always vote in off-year or special elections. These targeted women voters are likely to vote for Kathy Hochul on Election Day but only if reminded to do so. Team EMILY will help to turn them out and make a difference on election-day.

In 2010, WOMEN VOTE! launched a new all-volunteer voter-contact program called Team EMILY, allowing EMILY's List members to actively participate with our campaigns. Over 700 volunteers throughout the country made over 100,000 phone calls to women voters in key races.

In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 900,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 84 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 25 year history.
