EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock Statement on Nevada Senate Race
Washington D.C. - EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, released the following statement in support of Representative Shelley Berkley, candidate for Senate in Nevada.
“Shelley Berkley has spent her entire career fighting for Nevada – whether she’s improving access to life-saving health care, creating jobs, or helping our veterans, Shelley prioritizes the Nevada families who need her help,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List. “This election is a clear choice between a dedicated fighter for Nevada, and Dean Heller, a toe-the-line Republican who said he was “proud” to be the only member of Congress to vote both in the House and the Senate to end Medicare as we know it.
“When voters go to the polls this November, they’re going to want a representative who puts them first – and that’s Shelley Berkley,” Schriock continued. “The EMILY’s List community has been proud to stand with Shelley for more than a decade – now at 1.5 million members, we’re ready to send Shelley to the Senate to continue her fight for women and families.”
In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 1,500,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 87 pro-choice, Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 27 year history.
