EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock Statement on Sarah Palin’s Over The Top, False Attacks On Democratic Women Candidates
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Sarah Palin went on FOX News to falsely claim Democratic Senate candidate and champion for economic fairness Elizabeth Warren is a Marxist. Today her tour of dishonesty continues when she travels to Missouri to campaign against Claire McCaskill.
Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List, released the following statement on Sarah Palin’s false attacks.
“Former Governor Sarah Palin has a bad habit of hurling attacks at pro-choice Democratic women who have a strong track record of fighting for working families,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List. “But she doesn’t speak for women voters who are tired of the Tea Party GOP’s divisive agenda. Women want leaders like Elizabeth Warren who are committed to expanding opportunities for working families – not ideologues who want to roll back the clock on women’s access to healthcare, critical services for seniors, and equal pay. And this November, those voters will have the opportunity to once again reject Sarah Palin’s harmful and backwards agenda.”
In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 1,500,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 87 pro-choice, Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 27 year history.
