EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock on the Republican National Committee’s Extreme Agenda

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today the Republican Party platform committee will vote to adopt a platform calling for a constitutional ban on abortion, making no exception for cases of rape and incest. The platform will be approved by convention delegates next week. EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock released the following statement:

“Republicans are hell-bent on turning back the clock for women in America – today they’ll vote to make government force a woman impregnated during a rape to carry that pregnancy to term. The days of small government are long gone in the GOP,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List.

“At EMILY’s List we spend a lot of time examining what women voters care about – and independent women all over the country reject these extremist policies,” Schriock continued. “Instead – from reproductive rights, to equal pay, to Medicare – Republicans are engaged in a cradle to grave assault on the programs women need to keep themselves and their families healthy. That’s why this November, voters are going to re-elect the President, and send him strong Democratic women in the House and Senate to help promote a progressive agenda.”
