EMILY’s List Congratulates Lois Frankel on Her Victory in Florida: Three Democratic Women Poised to Make Major Gains in the Sunshine State

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Lois Frankel on her impressive victory in the Florida Democratic primary, adding her to the list of EMILY’s List-backed Democratic women taking on Republicans this November.

“Florida voters have made it clear that they want to elect pro-choice Democratic women who will hold Washington accountable,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List. “Lois is a tough fighter and an experienced public servant who expanded opportunities for South Florida families in the State House and during her tenure as Mayor. Lois has run an impressive campaign, and EMILY’s List is thrilled to continue supporting her candidacy as she works to defeat a Tea Party extremist in November.”

The EMILY’s List community is also excited to support Val Demings, Orlando’s first female Police Chief and candidate for Congress in Florida’s 10th district, and Jessica Ehrlich, an experienced young progressive who is poised to take on the longest serving conservative in the House this November.

In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $38.5 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With a community of more than 1,500,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 87 pro-choice, Democratic women to the U.S. House, 16 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices. In the 2009-2010 cycle, EMILY's List had the largest number of members and donors in our 27 year history.
