Statement by Ellen R. Malcolm on Allyson Schwartz's Victory in Pennsylvania 13

WASHINGTON – Following is a statement by Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY's List, on Allyson Schwartz's victory in Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District Democratic Primary.

"Allyson Schwartz won today because voters have benefited from her fourteen years in the State Senate and shared her priorities for the future. Allyson Schwartz has made creating jobs, expanding access to health care and improving education her top priorities and her accomplishments on these issues were validated by voters."

"The voters responded to her independent vision and supported her effort to bring real change to Northern Philadelphia and Montgomery County. The members of EMILY's List are proud to support her as she continues to talk with the voters the 13th District about making Washington work for them."

In its 18-year history, EMILY's List has helped to elect seven women governors, 11 women to the United States Senate and 55 women to the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 2002 elections, almost 73,000 EMILY's List members contributed nearly $9.7 million to pro-choice Democratic women candidates.
