EMILY's List Announces New Internet Director
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY’s List, one of the nation’s largest political action committees and the largest financial resource for women running for elected office, today announced that Emily Lockwood has joined the staff as internet director.
Lockwood joins EMILY’s List after serving as the deputy internet director of online organizing for Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. In that position, she developed the strategy for online programs in primary states and managed the execution of the national e-mail program. Prior to that, Lockwood was with Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she developed and managed the organization’s national online advocacy and fundraising campaigns and directed their national and local blogger outreach. Lockwood got her start in politics working for Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“We are excited to have Emily as part of our team as we continue to work harder than ever to elect progressive Democratic women to office across the country,” said EMILY’s List president Ellen R. Malcolm. “Her political skills and campaign experience will be a tremendous asset not only to EMILY’s List, but to our candidates as well.”
“I am thrilled to join EMILY’s List at a time when women have more opportunities than ever to break into the political world,” Lockwood said. “I am passionate about the issues so many EMILY’s List candidates face and am honored to be a part of an organization that does so much to help elect great women leaders.”
The internet director is responsible for expanding the organization's online presence by engaging new supporters, raising money, and promoting EMILY’s List candidates. The internet director also manages all elements of the organization’s online program including www.emilyslist.org, email communications, blogger outreach, and promotion on external web sites.
With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY’s List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY’s List has raised over $240 million to elect 71 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY’s List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
