EMILY's List Candidates Continue Incredible Momentum

Clark, Hanabusa, Lassa Build Support

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Tarryl Clark, Colleen Hanabusa and Julie Lassa on their incredible campaigns and continued momentum towards the November elections.

"We are thrilled with the continued good news coming out of the campaigns of EMILY's List candidates Tarryl Clark, Colleen Hanabusa and Julie Lassa. These pro-choice Democratic women have the credentials, the campaigns and the grassroots support from their communities to win in November," said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List. "Tarryl, Colleen and Julie today were named to the DCCC's 'Red to Blue' program, recognition of their hard work and the growing momentum of their campaigns. EMILY's List has supported these bold and determined women from the very beginning -- and we are so proud of the progress they're making in keeping these critical seats in Democratic hands."

State Senator Tarryl Clark has run a strong and consistent campaign for the people of Minnesota's sixth district who are tired of the continually outrageous comments and actions of Rep. Michele Bachmann. Clark has and will be a workhorse for her constituents and be an effective voice for them in Congress.

After a divided special election, state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa is bringing people together to be ready for a general election battle to return this seat to Democratic hands in November. Hanabusa is a dedicated and tireless leader who will fight for workers, justice, and women's rights in Hawaii's first congressional district.

Julie Lassa is running is Wisconsin's seventh congressional district against Sarah Palin-endorsed reality TV-star Sean Duffy. She is a vocal advocate for small business, families and children, and as a working mom, a standout state Senator, and a lifelong Wisconsin resident who knows the district's constituents, challenges, and opportunities.

EMILY's List is the nation's largest resource for women in politics. In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
