EMILY’s List’s WOMEN VOTE! To Mobilize Women Voters in New Hampshire
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women candidates, today announced a new WOMEN VOTE! project in New Hampshire's second congressional district. As the nationwide voter mobilization and education project of EMILY's List, WOMEN VOTE! will reach out to key voters in New Hampshire's second district to get out the vote and get women to the polls for the September 14th primary election.
The New Hampshire WOMEN VOTE! program has partnered with Planned Parenthood Action Fund to target approximately 12,500 pro-choice Democratic primary voting women in the second congressional district. The campaign will feature two pieces of direct mail and phone calls to voters to educate them about Ann McLane Kuster's strong record on choice and standing up for women and women's health across the state. The first piece of mail will reach voters right after Labor Day.
"Annie is a fresh voice with a proven track record of getting things done for the people of New Hampshire," said Denise Feriozzi, Director of WOMEN VOTE! "As an attorney and public policy advocate, Kuster has worked to expand access to education, health care, and other vital services in New Hampshire. In less than two weeks, the pro-choice voters of this district have a choice about who will represent them in Congress and that's why it is so important that the voters of this district know that Ann McLane Kuster is the only candidate in either party in this race with a strong record of standing up for a woman's right to choose."
Launched in 1995, the historic EMILY's List WOMEN VOTE! project combines polling and research, advanced information technology, sophisticated message testing, and precinct-by-precinct field work to mobilize millions of women voters across the country. EMILY's List designed WOMEN VOTE! to build a progressive political base that will elect more Democrats, especially women, by helping to increase turnout among women voters year after year.
EMILY's List is the nation's largest resource for women in politics. In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
