EMILY's List Endorses Suzan DelBene in Washington State's Eighth Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest financial resource for women candidates, today announced its endorsement of Suzan DelBene in Washington State's eighth congressional district.

"Suzan DelBene is an accomplished businesswoman and will be an excellent member of Congress," said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY's List. "Suzan understands that the stakes for Washington State families could not be higher. People are facing tough times. That's why in Congress, Suzan will work to create jobs, promote innovation, and provide quality, affordable health care for Washington State families. Her vast business experience and her work with nonprofit organizations set her apart from her competition and make her a great fit for the district. EMILY's List is proud to endorse Suzan DelBene for U.S. Congress."

DelBene has been a leader in the technology industry for over 20 years. She has served in both the private and public sectors, as a senior executive at Microsoft, and as a consultant for public and nonprofit organizations.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of EMILY's List and its members across the country," said DelBene. "With EMILY's List's help I know we can move this seat to the Democratic column in November."

In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
