EMILY's List Endorses Robin Kelly for Illinois State Treasurer
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, the nation's largest financial resource for women candidates, today announced its endorsement of Robin Kelly for Illinois State Treasurer.

"As a State Representative, she sponsored landmark legislation to protect victims of domestic violence and has worked to prevent consumer fraud and predatory lending. As a top aide in the Office of the State Treasurer, Robin has hands-on experience managing Illinois’s finances and looking out for families across the state. Robin is clearly the best candidate for State Treasurer and we are thrilled to support her campaign."
In her current role, as the chief of staff for the State Treasurer, she directly supervises and oversees all departments of the Treasurer's Office, managing approximately $17 billion in state and local funds and administers financial programs within the State of Illinois. Before joining the Treasurer's Office, Kelly served as a member of the Illinois General Assembly. First elected in 2002, Kelly defeated an incumbent state representative, and was reelected with wide margins in all her campaigns. As a state representative, she worked to protect victims of consumer fraud, supported economic development, and worked to improve mass transit. Kelly received awards from numerous organizations, including SEIU Local 880, the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization, the Illinois Environmental Council, and the Sierra Club award for a 100% voting record.

Robin Kelly attended Bradley University where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees and served on the Board of Trustees. Kelly later received her Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University.
