Ellen R. Malcolm to become the Chair of the EMILY’s List Board
WASHINGTON, DC -- After 25 years as founder and President of EMILY's List, Ellen R. Malcolm will become the chair of the EMILY's List board of directors, a newly created position. EMILY's List is beginning the search for a new president to run the day-to-day operations and to help chart the strategic course of the organization dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office.
"Next April we will celebrate EMILY’s List's 25th Anniversary. It is the perfect time to have a new president to help lead us into the next 25 years," said Malcolm. "I very much look forward to becoming the chair of the EMILY's List board of directors, where I will continue to be very involved with EMILY's List as we work to get more pro-choice Democratic women elected to office at all levels. I look forward to working closely with the next President."
EMILY's List has hired Arnie Miller of Miller and Company to conduct the search for the new President.
EMILY's List is the nation's largest financial resource for women candidates. In the 2007-2008 cycle, EMILY's List raised more than $43 million to support its mission of recruiting and supporting women candidates, helping them build strong campaigns, and mobilizing women voters to turn out and vote. With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has worked to elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, nine governors, and hundreds of women to the state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
