EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Dina Titus in Nevada's Third Congressional District

WASHINGTON D.C. -- EMILY’s List, one of the nation’s largest political action committees and the largest financial resource for women running for elected office, today announced its endorsement of Dina Titus for Nevada’s third congressional district.

“Dina Titus has been working to improve the lives of the people of Nevada for more than two decades,” said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY’s List. “As a congresswoman, Titus will use her independence and passionate advocacy for the people to bring real change to Washington. Her leadership and dedication to her voters make her the best person to represent Nevada’s third congressional district.”

Dina Titus has dedicated her professional life to education and public service. A state senator since 1988, she served as state Senate Minority Leader for 15 years, working tirelessly on the issues that matter most to Nevadans. Her experience as a professor of political science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has instilled in her a deep understanding of the importance of education at all levels.

Titus has been a passionate voice for the nation’s most vulnerable citizens, sponsoring legislation to create Nevada’s Check Up Program to cover uninsured children. Her advocacy on behalf of the disabled was recognized in 2006 with the dedication of the Dina Titus Estates, an affordable housing complex for persons with disabilities. She also stood against developers to protect Red Rock Canyon and earned praise from both sides of the aisle for her proposal for a freeze on property tax valuations. Titus has always been strong when it comes to standing up for what is best for the people of Nevada -- a commitment she will bring with her to Washington.

“I’m honored to receive this endorsement from EMILY’s List and to have the support of members in Nevada and across the country,” said Titus. “As a congresswoman, I will work hard to bring Nevada values and common sense to Washington instead of bringing the Bush administration’s failed policies home to Nevada.”

With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY’s List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 71 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY’s List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
