EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Linda Stender in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILY's List, the nation's largest political action committee and financial resource for women running for elective office, today announced its endorsement of Linda Stender in her bid for New Jersey’s seventh congressional district.

“Linda Stender has been a tenacious and dedicated member of the New Jersey General Assembly,” said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY’s List. “She will continue her commitment to creating positive change and common sense solutions as the congresswoman for New Jersey’s 7th district. EMILY’s List and our members are pleased to support Linda Stender and are committed to finally getting a Democratic woman from New Jersey back in the United States Congress.”

Throughout her political career, Linda Stender has done a great deal to advance the welfare of children, women, the environment, and her constituents at large. Stender’s dedication to promoting accessible and affordable health care is seen throughout her tenure in New Jersey’s General Assembly where she has been a champion for children’s health and fought to fulfill the promise of stem cell research for New Jersey’s citizens. While in office, Stender has worked to strengthen support for educational and health programs, including sponsoring a bill to reduce toxic chemicals in schools and co-sponsoring a successful bill reducing New Jersey’s greenhouse gas emissions. As a wife and mother of three children, she knows the challenges facing America’s families today, and advocates responsibility and sustainability in looking to the future.

“The time has come for someone who will stand up for the wishes of the people of New Jersey, rather than giving in to the status quo,” said Stender. “I am proud to be allied with the thousands of women and men who are members of EMILY's List, and will bring experience and integrity to New Jersey’s 7th district and to Washington.”

With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is the largest political action committee in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 69 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 22 years, EMILY's List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
