EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Jennifer Mann for Pennsylvania State Treasurer
WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest political action committee and financial resource for women running for elective office, today announced its endorsement of Jennifer Mann in her bid for Pennsylvania state treasurer. EMILY’s List has extended its support to Jennifer Mann through our Political Opportunity Program, an initiative to mobilize, train, and financially support candidates running at the state and local levels.
“Jennifer Mann is an intelligent and innovative leader who brings business know-how and determination to everything she does,” said Jonathan Parker, political director of EMILY’s List. “After eight years in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, she understands how to deal with state budgets and the importance of accountability in government. Appointed speaker pro tempore, she has a reputation for dedication and proficiency. EMILY's List and our members are excited to support Jennifer Mann for state treasurer of Pennsylvania.”
A lifelong resident of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Mann has devoted her career to creating a stronger, fairer, and more accountable community. Her experience as a small business owner and as the vice chair of the Pennsylvania House Finance Committee will lend a unique perspective as she works to manage the Pennsylvania Treasury Department’s sixty million dollar budget. Mann’s business background inspired her to introduce legislation that promoted a new and more business-friendly economic climate across the state. Mann understands that a healthy economy depends on the next generation and has advocated for the equitable distribution of funds across school districts. Additionally, Mann serves as a member of the House Environmental Resources and Energy, Consumer Affairs, Insurance, and Transportation committees. Mann’s outstanding leadership was recognized by Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Dennis O'Brien, R-Phila, when she was asked to serve as speaker pro tempore.
“As treasurer, I will promote accountability and transparency in government because the people deserve to know how their tax dollars are being invested in their community. Our state’s future success is rooted in the industries of the new economy and in order for it to grow, we need to ignite investment from the private sector. I will bring these ideas and trusted experience to the position of state treasurer for Pennsylvania,” said Mann. “I am proud to be allied with the thousands of members of EMILY's List here in Pennsylvania and around the country.”
With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is the largest political action committee in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 70 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY’s List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.
