Clinton presidential bid paved way for future women candidates

In her historic presidential campaign, Sen. Hillary Clinton paved the way for the next woman to run for the United States’s top elected position. Ellen Moran, executive director of EMILY’s List, made it clear that Clinton’s campaign changed the political landscape for women. “For most voters, a woman president is no longer a hypothetical. Now we can see it. She has answered the question of whether a woman can hold her own in a venue that has been male-dominated since the birth of the nation.” In addition to making the election of a woman president a very real possibility, Clinton also inspired many women to run for office on a local or state level for the first time.
