The following is a statement from EMILY's List President Ellen R. Malcolm on the death of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio:

Stephanie Tubbs Jones could light up a room with poetry, passion, and humor.  She was always a champion for civil rights and women's rights.  When she backed a candidate and the race got tough, Stephanie would take the field, showing her support and battling for victory.  "Girl," she'd say, "We've gotta get this going."  And with a big smile and a wave of her red-nailed hands, Stephanie would plunge into the crowd.  She was a good friend and a stalwart ally and I'll miss her very much.
