EMILY’s List Congratulates Local Candidates on Oregon Victories
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, released the following statement congratulating its local Oregon candidates on their election wins: Julie Fahey, Teresa Alonso Leon, Janeen Sollman, Carla Piluso, and Janelle Bynum.
“These women are champions for Oregon women and families,” said Lucinda Guinn, vice president of campaigns for EMILY’s List. “We are excited to help create a strong bench of women candidates for future public service. The EMILY’s List community is proud to have been with these women since day one.”
Julie Fahey was elected to represent House District 14. Teresa Alonso Leon was elected to represent House District 22. Janeen Sollman was elected to represent House District 30. Carla Piluso was elected to represent House District 50. Janelle Bynum was elected to represent House District 51.
EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised hundreds over $400 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making it one of the most successful political organizations ever. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have trained over 9,000 women to run and helped elect 118 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 700 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color - including every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic congresswoman currently serving.
