We all agree: Our Candidates are Changing the Face of Congress

Our feminist friends at Jezebel just asked if four of our women candidates could change the face of Congress -- and the answer, of course, is a resounding “YES!”

EMILY’s List candidates Tulsi Gabbard, Grace Meng, Kelda Roys and Kyrsten Sinema were all featured as the fresh faces that Congress needs -- all 36 years old or younger.

Jezebel reminded us all that, while we were finishing up our undergrad and struggling to pay rent at 21 years old, Tulsi Gabbard was busy serving as the youngest-ever elected female state legislator in American history -- and she hasn’t stopped moving up the political ladder.  After two tours of duty in Iraq, she’s running for Congress in Hawaii’s 2nd district at the ripe old age of 31. This rising star is pro-choice, pro-small business and pro-banking reform.

Meanwhile, if Grace Meng is elected to New York’s District 6 Congressional seat, she’ll be the first Asian American to represent New York in Congress .  She’s already fighting the war on women from the New York State Assembly.  And of course, as Jezebel said, she’s stood up to Rush Limbaugh -- which means she’s ready to take on his pals in Congress.

Kelda Roys was also praised for her unadulterated awesomeness.  Jezebel writes, “At 33, [Roys] is running on an unapologetically pro-choice platform and as an ‘expert on women’s health policy.’ About time – the knuckleheads currently writing regulations on the female body can’t even bring themselves to say ‘vagina.’”  Kelda is an alum of the EMILY’s List Political Opportunity Program  and is running for Congress in Wisconsin’s 2nd district.

And last, but certainly not least, Jezebel applauded Kyrsten Sinema for her tireless work to protect civil rights. As Jezebel said, “she’s been a four-term bastion of sanity in Arizona’s perpetual whirlwind of WTF,”  standing up for choice and the rights of veterans in the face of Governor Jan Brewer’s far right agenda.

Thanks, Jezebel, for this awesome coverage of four of our amazing candidates. We’re sure there will be more of it to come, as our women continue to make history and shake up the political playing field.

Make sure these rising stars have what they need to start changing the face of Congress. Contribute to Tulsi, Grace, Kelda, and Kyrsten today!

GO GET'M GALS; GREAT TO SEE SUCH TALENT!

'Hope we get someone like you

'Hope we get someone like you running in FL- this is such an inspiring thought!

Great Work

Best of luck to the rising stars! Just a simple request to EMILY's list: Can you please examine your policy on ableist language? It makes me cringe to read statements such as "she’s been a four-term bastion of sanity in Arizona’s perpetual whirlwind of WTF." Dismissing Jan Brewer and other Arizona lawmakers as insane diminishes the real impact they are having on not only their state, but the entire country.

Save our vagina from the republicans

As woman I feel strongly that I should have the ability to make the decision for myself about my own body not a group of men passing law on what I can't do and what I can do I am feeling very sick so i am voting to save all vagina from Republican men and some republican women .

Four of our women candidates

I thank you for the update & welcome the suggestions on these four brave ladies. No doubt the have -initially- what it takes to stand up to the GOP's perennial corruption, abuse, lies, fear-mongering & hypocrite mentality. Along these lines I always question why the wives, sons/daughters of all these GOP's live within those criminal parameters? Many times I excuse them as any wife being emotionally, physically abused excused her mate, husband or boyfriend. Having said that I wonder why & when these brave ladies will stand to support Obama & to rally in his behalf. The reality is that we simply do not have time to waste any longer. We can not let this election pass by without gathering sufficient power, & all human resources available to defeat all the "Reptilians" aka the republicans, the entirely corrupted GOP. We need a "revolution" now not tomorrow. We need to bring this Country, our Great Nation to reality today if we believe that we are so great with the rest of the world. Let's not continue bring up more & more politics into the present state of affairs. We need "ACTION" now not any time after elections are lost! We need a full blown demonstration where millions of people march, rally for 7 consecutive days in front of every single State Capitol in the Country. In front of mayor Government Buildings. I'm talking about the most powerful display of discontent against the Corporate dominance & Government corruption. We the People need this rally & representation but we need leaders ready to stand up right now! I'm ready! Are you? Are these ladies ready to rally? or it's simply a smokescreen!

Time Congress is Replaced, Been there to Long

No offense meant! But it's about time the Vaginas in Congress are Replaced. Starting with the Cry Baby, Boner, Oh, Sorry Misspelled the Name, for sure has the wrong name, for speaker of the House. Ha Not only in Congress, but we need Change all the way from city official to Washington. People have nested in this nest TO LONG, and THINK THEY ARE NOT EXPENDABLE, AND KEEP ON SELLING THIS COUNTRY OUT! DESTROYING OUR CITIES, ENVIRONMENT, AND WATER TABLES, WITH ALL THEIR POLLUTION, AND LINING THEIR POCKETS WITH THE PEOPLES MONEY. SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, LADIES, IT'S ABOUT TIME!! Something to Look into, below.......PLEASE, PLEASE.....KICK BUTT, AND TAKE NAMES...... LADIES! A Senior Citizen, military Retired, and just trying to make ends meet and work out, from paycheck to paycheck. What is being done about the below waste of money, and the oil waste and environment destruction? SAMPLE.... North Carolina oil drilling. We the people get screwed, and millions go to Ex-Presidents for postage, and phone calls, and bills we have nothing to do with but we have to pay for! COME ON............... This Government creates the problems and we the people end up screwed....... we don't need dinners, nor excuses, we need actions and for you all to correct problems this so called Government has created! Ernesto Sanchez This Government is Bitching and Crying about Deficit, not to mention that it is something they themselves have Created. And with all this bitching and crying they are giving millions to Our so called ex-presidents, and their families to pay for their own bills, office staff, travel and postage, clothing and such, cause of a former presidents Act of 1958 of tax payers funding for their expenses. This ex-presidents make million, from books and societies, talks and other things, etc., and we still end up paying for their bills................. Come on now............Something is VERY, VERY, WRONG HERE! We have this Government cutting Our Social Security, cutting school funding, raising college tuition for students, raising hospital insurance premiums, and a lot of the people starving and trying to make it from pay check to paycheck. Wondering where the next dollar or meal will be from, and this government is giving out millions to one single family cause they were presidents, and can not make it with the millions they are making and have stashed away? I SAY TO HELL WITH THIS, LET THEM LIVE WITH IN THEIR OWN MEANS, WHY SHOULD WE THE PEOPLE KEEP SUPPORTING THEIR EXPENSES, AND PARTIES? INFORMATION FACTS, Quotes from The Daily Caller, AS FOLLOW: 1. Former President George W. Bush is budgeted to receive the most money form taxpayers of all living ex-presidents. He is reguesting more than $3.1 million in taxpayers dollars for fiscal year 2013, according to a budget proposal document prepared by the General Services Administration. Get this: funds go towards office staff, travel and postage, Bush is also requesting another $85,000 for phone costs, this is not with whatever is spend on security........... 2. Former President Bill Clinton is requesting more than $1 million. Clinton is asking for the most in office rentals----- nearly four times the amount Carter is asking for------- with $442,000 budgeted for rent. 3. Former President George H. W. Bush is requesting $879,000 dollars. The elder Bush is budgeted to spend $56,000 on travel 4. Former President Jimmy Carter is requesting $518, 000 dollars. Carter is also asking for $15,000 for postage cost. 5. As for widows of former Presidents, like Nancy Reagan, $7,000 is budgeted for postal costs. " Nobody wants Our Former Presidents living the remainder of their lives destitute", but the fact is ............. none of our former presidents are poor, nor living from pay check to paycheck like we the People Are, and Have Been.......... and We have to support their habits, PAY THEIR BILLS, SOMETHING WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH, with the little we have, COME ON, SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE! I ASK YOU ALL, THE PEOPLE TO TO SIGN AND SUPPORT THIS, AS IT SEEMS WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE ONLY ONES BEING KICKED AROUND, AND THIS GOVERNMENT IS LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK........ IT'S TIME WE TAKE NAMES AND KICK BUTT............. AND SPEAK ON OUR OWN BEHAVE............. THANK YOU, FOR YOUR SUPPORT......

What Do you Need To Do To Be A Great Leader?

It's time for everyone who really loves the United States of America, especially American women, to be united because we need to work together in getting the economy back on track soon for the American people who are out of work three years or more. I am one of them who is looking for a job and can't find one. Today, I'm so proud to be an American citizen because I deeply care about the American people in general. I definitely consider myself American, and I'm so concerned about the United States of America. America's not a guarantee of comfort; it's a guarantee of opportunity. I love being in America. I was not born here but I would like to be part of the American values and to be a member of a political adviser team in the future. I'm very excited about education that will transform people's lives because without a good education, it's difficult to maneuver through life successfully. So no matter what accomplishments people have made in their lives, education still is the most important key to success because education is not a preparation for life, but education is life itself. Education should never work against a person's destiny, but should achieve the full development of his own predispositions. I consider the United States of America as a beautiful land because it has lots of opportunities that this land has continued to give everyone of us every single day of our lives. I want to continue to be an advocate for women and good piliticians in this country until we arrive to fix the CONGRESS and WHITE HOUSE forever. This is what I want to be. I don't think some people who live here realize how good this country is. You can go everywhere and you think you're in Paris ( FRANCE ). I still believe in American prosperity if everyone stops blaming each other, and gets the best way to repair and correct the national economic crisis. I know what I'm talking about it, there is no economic problem right now in America. There are only leadership problems because our leaders refuse to take the time and responsibilities to stop the bleeding. But only one thing each of us needs to do to reduce or eliminate the economic crisis in this country for life is that we have to stand together to rebuild our land for the next generation of kids. Never forget that American people are counting on each one of us every single day. The more you work, the more you grow. The more you grow, the more you are strong. The more you are strong, the more you progress. The more you progress, the more you develop. The more you develop, the more you compete, when educating your people and making the best choice in their future lives. I can't judge anyone. I can't speculate for anyone, I can just love the United States of America. I feel so bad for the next generation of children if we don't take our responsibilities as leaders and advocates to teach them very well and prepare them for the changes that are to come true. We have to sit as patriots and bring everything to the table and fix the political system in America. I'm apolitical. I would do the campaign to improve things for the American people. I'm not a Republican or Democrat. I'm only an INDEPENDENT because I love both parties. I continue to appeal for unity in the United States of America. My advice is so clear. I continue to encourage the American people to vote for the Congress women and a president that they know well and they could trust at the White House and House of Representative in Washington D.C. A penny saved is a penny earned. If you don't work hard, you will not succeed. Working hard together is the best way to succeed and get the American dream back again for every single American person suffering in this tough economic crisis right now in this country. Abdullah F. Abdon International political advisor I have no problem if you want to show it publicly.

Go Girls!

We need everywomen in America to study hard and then learn to care about our America. We live in the best place in the world and we are not rich unless everyone is rich. We are not lucky unless everyone is lucky and we are not educated unless everyone is educated. We have no power unless all women have power and I do mean ALL. You Go Girls! I am so poud to know you and be associated with you and to watch you change our America!
