Each cycle, EMILY's List hosts numerous trainings for audiences ranging from recent college graduates to women preparing for their first down-ballot campaign. The EMILY’s List Training Program has received broad acclaim as one of the best in the nation. Graduates have gone on to play leading roles in critical races across the country for House, Senate, governor – even president. And occasionally, they end up on an EMILY's List race that brings them back into our circle.

GOP Cong. Chip Cravaack, whom we put “On Notice” in April for his heinous anti-woman record, was already considered one of the most vulnerable freshmen in the House. Now, not only is former state senator and green jobs advocate Tarryl Clark in the race for Minnesota’s 8th District, she’s “On the List.”

I know it’s Friday, but I’m afraid we have some sad news to share: Michele Bachmann’s “Jim the Election Guy” – aka, Beau the Actor – has left the scene after not even a month on air. Really, it’s heart-wrenching: we were just getting to know this fake, non-Minnesotan’s smears and attacks! Now, he’s gone to the political ad dustbin in the sky.

Michele Bachmann in Trouble in Minnesota

Michele Bachmann in Trouble in Minnesota

I can tell you that Michele Bachmann is in trouble. Trouble. And you wonder, because you haven't heard anything lately, how could she be in trouble? If she'd called someone a communist, surely, it would be on national TV. And it would. But the reason she's in Trouble is because what she did matters in Minnesota. And that's all that counts.

Bachmann is going after Tarryl's record. It's a real stretch, considering that in the state House Tarryl has promoted better public education, job creation, and policies that support Minnesota's working families. The Bachmann camp is throwing all kinds of slander, but none of it's going to stick. Is Tarryl going to let these attacks go unchallenged?

Here we go ladies and gentlemen; the fight for Minnesota's sixth congressional district is officially on. Michele Bachmann, the champion of the Tea Party Caucus, defender of the radical right, and leader of all things anti-choice has released her first ad attacking EMILY's List-endorsed candidate Tarryl Clark. It is no surprise that the ad targets fiscally responsible, results-focused Tarryl, and promises more attack ads "coming soon."

I never thought I'd say this, but I am so proud to be in Michele Bachmann's campaign literature. Yes, that's right -- proud. You see, EMILY's List is in good, good company, and Michele Bachmann -- well, she's running scared, though her fear hasn't curtailed her outrageousness one bit.

Just what is going on in Missouri? We know that Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is preparing for the upcoming August 3rd primaries. After all, as the state’s top elections official, Carnahan implemented Missouri’s first statewide voter registration system, created the Missouri Voting Rights Center, and launched an interactive election results website.

Conversation is constant here. We got to speak with attendees while at our EMILY's List booth at the exhibition all, meeting long-time supporters and sharing our mission with folks new to what we do -- and handed out some pretty cute notepads. At panel discussions and roundtable talks, we heard hopes, frustrations, and desire for more progressive action.

Michele Bachmann wrote an opinion piece in Politico entitled, "Thank you, Sarah Palin," in which she details just how much she appreciates the fundraising efforts Palin has undergone to help her keep her seat this November. I agree with Michele that Palin's "effect on all aspects of politics shouldn’t be undersold" and know exactly what she means when she writes, "my race wasn’t the only race that Palin worked hard to raise money for."
