Breast Cancer Awareness Month is dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection, because early detection-as with any cancer- plays a huge role in increasing ones chance of survival. One in eight women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetimes, a ratio that has been on the rise over the past few decades.

On the 48th anniversary of the Equal Pay Act, women still only make 77 cents on the male dollar. This fact was brought to our attention in a discussion we attended recently sponsored by EMILY’s List’s Senator Barbara Mikulski and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro on pay equity.
