Working Wisconsinites have been battling their union-busting, Tea Partying governor and state Senators Julie Lassa and Lena Taylor have led the charge. Unfortunately, Walker and his cronies rammed their unfair bill through this week – but it's not over yet.

We could not have been prouder to see EMILY's List alums and State Senators Julie Lassa and Lena Taylor appear on The Ed Show on MSNBC last night, talking about the situation in Wisconsin. Both Julie and Lena spoke of their fellow Wisconsin Democrats' fight to protect the collective bargaining rights of workers in their state.

We at EMILY’s List are no strangers to the deceptive, unfair, and sometimes downright dangerous campaign ads run by the Chamber of Commerce during this last election cycle. A particularly ugly case in point: in Wisconsin, the Chamber ran an ad against EMILY’s List candidate Julie Lassa that included her family’s home phone number. Turns out, we’re not the only ones outraged by the Chamber’s aggressively right-wing agenda as demonstrated by their ads: as reported by POLITICO, local groups are distancing themselves or even quitting in protest.

In the actual real world, central Wisconsin families know first-hand the slowed economy has brought true hardship and it's increasingly apparent that Sean Duffy doesn't have answers for them. Just yesterday, Julie kicked off her "For Us, One of Us" tour in which she plans to travel the district she calls home laying out her plans to keep jobs in Wisconsin and bring back made in America.

Duffy campaign: what's wrong with ads that put Lassa family at risk?

Yes, Virginia, they can sink that low: congressional candidate Sean Duffy and his campaign stand by a new ad that succeeds at not just crossing the line of decency, but taking a huge galloping leap over it. Funded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the ad attacks Julie Lassa, then instructs viewers to call her – after displaying her home phone number. Julie’s two daughters used to pick up that phone, but that was before the family had to disconnect the line after being inundated with calls resulting from the ad.

With just 27 short days until voters head to the polls, many of our candidates' races will be won on the ground -- some by a few hundred votes. Our women are hard at work reaching undecided voters, rallying their supporters, and ensuring that their message is being heard loud and clear.

Well, now EL's own Julie Lassa is getting Swift-boated. Her opponent, Palin-endorsed reality TV star Sean Duffy, is the beneficiary of a new group, New Prosperity Foundation -- whose goal is to remake the political landscape in the Midwest according to their own conservative, pro-business image. Who's funding New Prosperity Foundation? Those Rangers and Pioneers, desperate for a chance to hack away at another Democrat's record and install a right-wing mouthpiece of their own in the House.

Conversation is constant here. We got to speak with attendees while at our EMILY's List booth at the exhibition all, meeting long-time supporters and sharing our mission with folks new to what we do -- and handed out some pretty cute notepads. At panel discussions and roundtable talks, we heard hopes, frustrations, and desire for more progressive action.
