2011 took us for quite a ride. After all the ups and downs, the highs and lows, we've put together a list of the five best moments for women in 2011; a brief list of the women, the movements, and the moments that have inspired and heartened us this year. It was heartening to see some incredible women – including EMILY’s List alumnae – get their due in TIME’s 100 list for 2011. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was lauded, Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards was honored, and President Obama honored Cong. Gabrielle Giffords.
