House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other EMILY's List alums like Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Rep. Kathy Hochul and Rep. Gwen Moore held a press conference today, in the midst of tense deficit reduction negotiations between both parties, to call attention to the risks cuts to entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare pose to women.

Since we first helped elect Gwen back in 2004, she has risen through the ranks and now serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Women’s Caucus. In short: she gets things done. That's what she did in the last Congress, joining with her colleagues in passing our historic health care reform law. And, that's what she's doing today as she headed to the floor this week to speak out on behalf of her party, on behalf of her constituents, and on behalf of all of us. Squaring off with Speaker Boehner and the GOP leadership, Gwen poignantly argued the irresponsibility of repealing health care.
